Park plans discussed

Discussing ways to prevent vandalism and a five-year plan for growth for city park property, members of the Pea Ridge Parks Commission met Tuesday at City Park. Normally they meet once a month, but they are currently meeting twice a month to try to address all the needs for city park property.

Parks Commission chairman Joseph Carlson and members James Crews, Spencer Deal, Karen Kitterman and Larry Whisenhant discussed various possibilities of installing lights at the park in Givens subdivision where there have been multiple incidents of vandalism.

They discussed meeting with the mayor and police chief to address the vandalism issues.

Showing a sketch of a proposal for playground equipment at Givens Place, James Crews said he believed installing lights would deter vandalism.

The group decided to sponsor a booth at the Pea Ridge Fair to display the plans and communicate with the public about the Commissions' plans for the future.
