Students at Pea Ridge Intermediate School have a new playground thanks to a combined effort of parents, community, businesses and the School Board, according to Sarah Stokes, principal.

Stokes invited representatives from the Parent Teacher Organization, area businesses and the School Board to a reception at the school to thank them for their investment in the playground. She said originally the playground was planned as a three-phase, three-year project.

"We wouldn't have gotten it done as nicely, or as quickly," Stokes said, "without your help."

"This is the greatest day ever!" Doug Duvall, teacher, said one of his students yelled as he ran out on the new playground this week.

Contributors included: Daisy Troop No. 5046; Glorie Oxford; Rachel Barton; Arvest Bank, Pea Ridge; the Walton Foundation; the PTO from 2011 to 2014.

"Our building did fundraisers," Stokes said, explaining that there were candle sales, signature fundraising, a Boogie Bash, a Luau and the Bull Drop, which raised $29,254.93.

The School Board contributed $13,129.32, according to the district treasurer.
