Winners of Craftsmanship Awards at the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby were Kevin Bray, Alan Fletcher, Jimmy Buck, Tim Whisenhunt and Gary Tillman.

Don Grisham of Rogers, a partner in Benton County Communications Inc., holder of a television cable system franchise for Pea Ridge, said that his company was still working toward installing the cable system in the city.

Carl Baggett, president of the Bank of Pea Ridge, was re-elected to his second term as Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce president. John Easley, owner of White's Auto Store and former Pea Ridge mayor, was named vice president. Eva Patterson, who had served as secretary-treasurer all but one year since the chamber was organized many years before, was re-elected. Jack Gaines, Fred McKinney and Russell Walker were elected to the Board of Directors, succeeding Tim Wood, John Knox and Harold Hurd.

Members of the Pea Ridge High School Band were Jim Grotts, John Grotts, Allan Lammey, Jordan Miser, Carol Ragland, David Ragland, Jana Tripp, David Miser, Tony Miller, Paul Arnold, Diana Hanner, Brenda Henson, Connie McCool, Valerie Day, Norma Stephen, Wade Barnett and Tom Grotts.

New VAS officers elected were Jim Cocalas as president and vice presidents Larry McCabe and Alta Campbell.

A snowstorm paralyzed the Pea Ridge area and residents were still trying to dig out two days later. School was canceled and dairymen were milking by hand for the first time in many years because of a lack of electricity. Snow depth ranged from 10 to 15 inches on level ground with drifts up to six feet.

Four students from Pea Ridge High School defeated their counterparts from Bentonville and Springdale High Schools in Bentonville at their first round in the Scott Hi-Q academic competition. Pea Ridge scored 28, Bentonville scored 24 and Springdale scored 21. The Pea Ridge team was composed of Deena Jump, Kelly Stokes, Greg Mayfield and Danny Prophet.

Scott Hi-Q members at Pea Ridge High School were Freddie Walker, Desiree Parker, Brian Easley, Josh Patrick, Ryan Hurd, Barbara Humphrey, Mike Burton, Nathan Musteen, January Wagner and Wes Mabry. Teacher Tracy McClain was the sponsor.

The Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department almost doubled the number of responses in 1993 over 1992, said Doug Vanscoy. He said that in 1992 NEBCO received 70 calls and in 1993 it received 135 calls.

Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks lost in Eureka Springs 74-52 and 54-42 respectively. Shawn Woods lead the 'Hawks with 13 points and Merry Miller lead the Lady 'Hawks with 8 points.

The Pea Ridge Middle School Quiz Bowl team went undefeated in district competitions. Members include Meredith Cordoza, John Hall, Ashley Mayes, Brittany Touchstone, Alex Wilson, Dillon Blakenship, Jeremy Marcott, Alex Martfeld and Ashley Swigart.
