God never changes

Well, here we are beginning yet another year. The old year with all of its joy and disappointments, happiness and struggles, has passed into history. The year 2014 will, no doubt, bring its own ups and downs because one thing is sure, changes will come.

That's because there's one thing that never changes and that is, everything is always changing. Life is always in motion. We're constantly moving towards something or away from something. It could be a physical location such as from point A to point B, it could be a point in time like a birthday or an anniversary, it could be a goal, a dream, a job, a relationship or any number of things. We're always on the move.

This is all fresh on my mind because everything here in my little world is a little hectic right now. I won't bore you with all the details because the same is probably true in your life as well. If your life is like mine, then it's a cycle of routine and chaos. I definitely like the routine part better. The chaos part can vary from an annoying inconvenience to something devastating and life changing but one thing is sure, they come and go and in between we can settle in to some kind of familiar routine.

The King James Bible contains the phrase "and it came to pass" 120 times. Those times of chaos will pass. Whatever is happening in your life will pass, it won't stay. The thing we need to remember in these times of chaos is that there is another constant besides change and that's God.

Whatever you're going through, He's still God and He doesn't change (Mal. 3:6). It's more than important, it's vital, that during the times of chaos in our lives, that we remember to keep our eyes focused on the One who doesn't change, otherwise we will be overwhelmed by the current circumstance. Over and over again in the Bible we read about God being a shelter and a refuge for His people. In the middle of the craziness of life be sure to pause and spend some time with the One who can calm the storm.
