Please return overdue items

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

As promised, the drawing for the quilt and afghan was held on Thursday afternoon.

We asked a young lady who was using the computer to draw two names -- the first name drawn would win the quilt and the second name would win the afghan.

Mrs. Frieda Crabtree was the winner of the quilt and Mrs. Gus Bradley won the afghan. Congratulations, ladies, and thank you for supporting our library.

This is the last week of the Second Grade Reading Challenge. Sure has been fun checking out books to these young readers. I just hope this helps them develop a life-long love of reading.

Additional lights were installed on the outside of the building last week. It sure provides some much needed illumination to the parking area.

Our patrons seem to be enjoying the fact that we have DVDs available for checkout.

We are thankful to everyone who has donated DVDs for our small but growing collection. It is important that they be returned by their due date as a late fee of $1 per day per DVD is charged.

If they are returned damaged, the borrower is responsible for paying the cost of a replacement.

Last week we discovered that someone had take a DVD out of the case and then hidden the case where they thought we would not find it. Taking a DVD is theft and will be treated as such.

Taking a DVD or a book and not returning it hurts everyone. Please be considerate -- return your items on time! If you liked the DVD or the book enough to check it out, chances are someone else would like it as well.

The library staff is still making calls and sending emails to patrons with overdue library books and DVDs.

We are finding that many people have moved and/or changed telephone numbers and email addresses making it very difficult to locate them.

Please, if you have an overdue library item, please return it. If you are not able to pay the fine at this time, returning the items will keep additional charges from accruing. I know you are tired of reading about this -- believe me I am tired of writing about it!

Thanks, everyone, for the donations we've received recently -- everything from cash and books to an unused ink cartridge that would not work with our printer but has been sold on eBay!

Thursday was a busy day at the library -- book and DVD check-outs, computer users, patrons sitting and reading for a while.

We had some teenagers who used the computers and then used the Quiet Room for doing homework! Always happy to see so many people making use of the library.

See you at the library!
