Acreage zoned agricultural

About 30 acres south of Hazelton Road was approved for rezoning from residential to agricultural at the regular meeting of the Pea Ridge Planning Commission Tuesday, Feb. 11. The meeting was originally set for Tuesday, Feb. 4, but was postponed due to snow.

The property is owned by Clarence Guinn. Realtor Dave Montgomery represented Guinn before the commission and told planners that Guinn wants to extend his cattle into that pasture.

City building official Tony Townsend told planners the land was part of Summit Meadows and was never developed and "the bank got it." It is adjacent to nearly 40 acres being considered by Carroll Electric for purchase.

Townsend told planners he had not received any negative comments about the rezoning proposal and had a couple of people call saying they'd rather have cows than houses on the land.

One area resident, Mike Forrest, told planners he was "fine" with the change.

Another resident, Frank Pinto, said: "The property surrounds my house. I'm fine with it."

Planners M.J. Hensley, Jerry Burton, Matt Powers, Zachary Hoyt and Al Fowler were present. Dr. Karen Sherman and Heather Clark were absent.

Planners agreed to meet for a tech review on March 6.
