Dye Hard Gym moving to new location

Initially, John and Bobbye Jo Dye opened a gym in town because they didn't like having to drive so far -- to Bentonville or Rogers -- for a gym. Together, the couple opened Dye Hards in June 2008 in 3,000 square feet in rented space at 201 Lee Town Road.

"We didn't like having to drive so far to go to a gym and figured others didn't either," John Dye said. "We opened a gym to help out our community.

"We have also been able to provide jobs for people and scholarships for graduating seniors."

The gym is open 24 hours a day and accessed by keys given to members. It is staffed from 1:30 to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Soon, the gym is moving to 1978 West Slack Street where there will be 3,200 square feet in a building owned by the Dyes, who said there is additional space to add on when needed.

Now in the gym are four treadmills, two ellipticals, two bikes and many free weights and weight machines.

The Dyes said they hope to offer exercise classes and trainers soon.

"We are excited to announce that Carrie Hatfield is joining the Dye Hards team!" Dye said. "She is going to do personal training. She is a certified trainer with many degrees in health and fitness and Kinesiology, and has a lot of experience.

"Carrie will do one-on-one training or in groups. You may leave your name and phone number at the gym and she will contact you to help you reach your fitness goals. We have another trainer who will be joining her soon," Dye said.

"Children may join if parents are present when they are working out and have a membership as well," Dye said, adding that children 14 and younger must have adult supervision.
