Visitors will also have the opportunity to view Settling the Ozarks, the museum's new permanent exhibit focusing on the 1820s-1860 era. Marie Demeroukas, the museum's photo archivist and curator for the exhibit, will be stationed in the exhibit to discuss that period in Ozark history.

Ozark Geology Program

Arkansas Master Naturalist Denis Dean will present "Disappearing Ground: Karst, Sinkholes, Caves, and More," a program on the limestone geology of the Ozark Mountains, at noon Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

A retired attorney, Dean now spends his time presenting nature programs to schools classes, community groups, and state park visitors across the region. He was recently awarded the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality's 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award.

Photo Exhibit

Out of the Darkroom, a photo exhibit featuring historic images from the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History's collection, opens Jan. 26 at the Shiloh Museum. The exhibited was curated by photographer Don House, who for several years worked as the museum's darkroom technician.

"For this exhibit, I selected images I ran across while processing photos in the museum's darkroom--photos that spoke to me as they materialized in the trays and chemicals," said House. "It's a mixed bag of subjects, which hints at the depth and richness of the Shiloh Museum's collection."

Out of the Darkroom will be on view through Jan. 9, 2016.
