Pea Ridge National Military Park Visitor Center

"The purpose of this mitigation project is to identify a safe and convenient access road and parking for our visitors at key features within the park, while at the same time protecting and preserving the cultural and natural resources. As a result of the relocation of Highway 62, a new access and improved circulation to the park is being proposed that will provide visitors additional opportunities to learn about the Civil War battle that occurred here," Waters said.

The public is invited to attend an Open House to learn more about the proposed new access and improved circulation in the park. It will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the Pea Ridge National Military Park Visitor Center, which is located at 15930 E. U.S. Hwy. 62 in Garfield.

An electronic copy of the Highway 62 Mitigations Environmental Assessment is available for public review and can be accessed by going to the Planning, Environment and Public Comment website located at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/projectHome.cfm?projectID=46500. In addition, a hard copy of the document is available at the Pea Ridge Library and at the park's Visitor Center.

The public review period for this project will close on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. The public's participation in the development of this project is desired and will be greatly appreciated.
