Hawks beat Tigers

The Blackhawk's long-range shooting was too much for the West Fork Tigers Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Pea Ridge hit six first-half 3-pointers and five more in the second half as the Blackhawks defeated West Fork 62-39 in a nonconference game.

Cole Wright came off the bench for Pea Ridge and hit four 3-pointers finishing with 14 points. Senior Zach Davis hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.

"We did a good job of shooting the basketball," said coach Trent Loyd. "I thought we had a lot of effort. We still have a ways to go, but that is what these nonconference games are for."

Pea Ridge (4-3), which was playing at home for the first time this season, closed out the first period with a 3-pointer by Westin Church for a 19-9 lead and Wright opened the second period with back-to-back 3-pointers for a 25-10 lead. Davis added another 3-pointer with just over three minutes before halftime as the Blackhawks cruised to a 34-17 lead.

"Cole Wright gave us a spark right there," Loyd said.

"Pea Ridge is a great team, a great shooting team," said West Fork coach Nolan Helder. "Pea Ridge just hit too many tonight for us to stay with them."
