L.C. Barnett and Miss Joyce Dierlam were married on Dec. 23, 1954, at the First Assembly of God in Refugio, Texas.

They made their home in south Texas until October 1963, when they moved with their four children to Gateway, Ark.

Through the years they were foster parents to many children while raising their own on their 240-acre farm.

Mr. Barnett pastored Gateway Chapel from 1983 until he retired in 2004. Mrs. Barnett was a 4-H leader for many years and served on the Benton County Fair Board. She worked for the NASDA from 1976 until she retired in 2013. They now enjoy traveling in their motor home, visiting family and friends.

The Barnetts have four children: Sherry and Steve Weimer of Bella Vista, Lonnie and Sharon Barnett of Gateway, Wade and Cindy Barnett of Guyton, Ga., and Norm and Debbie Barnett of Benton; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a reception celebrating their 60 years of marriage from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, in the community room of the Northeast Benton County Fire Department Station No. 1, Garfield, Ark.

The event is hosted by their children -- Sherry, Lonnie, Wade and Norm, and their spouses. Friends are invited to drop-in and celebrate with the family.
