Granny's Quilts of Love

Granny's Quilts of Love met Tuesday, July 15, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge, with 20 members and two guests, Connie Brown and Pat Wagoner, present. Mary Margaret Webb opened the meeting, and prayer was given by Joy Moore.

Club members have now reached 18,000 quilts donated to Arkansas Children's Hospital. They cut 160 more quilt kits.

The next meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge located at 1300 N. Davis St.

Benton County Republican Women

The Benton County Republican Women will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Golden Corral at 2605 Pleasant Crossing Drive in Rogers.

Asa Hutchinson will be their special guest. He is the Republican nominee for Governor of Arkansas. He has served as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, Congressman from the 3rd District, administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency and Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

Hutchinson has spent the majority of his career in the private sector as a small business owner, lawyer and entrepreneur.

He and his wife, Susan, have been married for 40 years and have four grown children and five grandchildren. The couple live in Rogers where he practices law with their eldest son.

The Benton County Republican Women meet from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday. Many come early to eat before the meeting starts.

The club also has a good number of men who attend.

Ozark Hill Hikers

The Ozark Hill Hikers, affiliated with the American Volkssport Association, invites all club members and other interested walkers to join in Aug. 27 at Pea Ridge National Military Park.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Pea Ridge National Military Park Visitor Center in Garfield. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. from the Visitor Center and follows the course of the events as they unfolded during the Battle of Pea Ridge in Benton County. The walk is on paved roads but is hilly.
