"It is with great pleasure that I was able to give this," State Representative Sue Scott said of the $25,000 in General Improvement Funds presented to Pea Ridge officials.

"We appreciate it," Mayor Jackie Crabtree said.

"I know you do, that's why I gave it," Scott replied.

"Pea Ridge is a great city -- it was an easy choice," Scott said. "It's a good city with good people."

The vibratory roller weighs about 3,200 pounds, Nathan See, Street Department superintendent, said. He said the city owns an older roller that it has had since the 1970s which will be given to the Water Department.

See explained that this roller will greatly aid in compaction when repairing and patching streets. In the past, when the city has had to rent a roller, such as for the work on widening Smith Street, it cost the city $694 per week, See said.

See said the old roller will help the Water Department when recovering pipe.

"They're passing it on since they were given a gift," Scott said. "That's what it's all about. We could learn a lot from Pea Ridge in Little Rock, Arkansas."
