New library location anniversary celebrated

Thankfully we have made it to April and some warmer temperatures! It's so nice to have sunshine and to see the lawns greening up and the trees budding out.

Cinda and Lee pitched in and kept the library running as usual on Monday and Tuesday last week while I was out with some "bug." I'm finally starting to feel human again.

Kelsey Parmenter, 2013 Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks, stopped by the library Thursday morning to read a story to the children. Our turnout was not what we had expected but the children who were there sure did enjoy the story time. Miss Parmenter will visit the library again over the summer to participate in our Summer Story Hour. It was a treat to have her visit and we look forward to her return visit.

The library received a large donation of National Geographic magazines last week and will soon receive a very large donation of gardening magazines. We will be happy to donate these to anyone who can use them. If you know of a classroom in need of magazines please pass this information on to them.

We have enjoyed having the Granny's Quilts of Love display at the library during the month of March. The April display will be provided by the Pea Ridge Historical Society. I stopped by the Pea Ridge Museum on Saturday afternoon as it had been several months since I had last visited. They have such interesting displays. If you have not visited, take an hour and go by some Saturday. And while you are there, join the historical society and help keep the history of this area alive.

We were surprised and saddened to learn last Wednesday that our neighbor, Collier's Drug Store, was closing the Pea Ridge store. I am sure that store and the employees will be missed.

April 9 will mark the 1-year anniversary of the library in our current location at 801 N. Curtis Ave. Please stop by and have some refreshments and celebrate with us during regular library hours -- 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. If you haven't yet applied for a library card, bring your driver's license and a piece of mail that has been sent to your current physical address and we can issue you a card.

See you at the library!
