Junior Blackhawks beat Prairie Grove

The Junior High Blackhawks played Prairie Grove Thursday night after a heartbreaking fi rst loss of the season last week to the Ozark Hillbillies.

Zaine Holley got the ’Hawks on the scoreboard with a 33-yard touchdown run to cap o◊a drive. Prairie Grove scored first in the second quarter with a good drive and ended with a 4-yard run in for a touchdown. The ‘Hawks came right back and drove right down the field with Wyatt Weber punching in a 2-yard touchdown.

Prairie Grove drove down the field right before the half whenHayden Holtgrewe intercepted and ran it back for a 60-yard return.

This set up the ’Hawks with a chance to score right before the half, and that is exactly what they did with a pass from quarterback Jakota Sainsbury to Britton Caudill. That’s how the fi rst half ended with the ’Hawks leading 20to 8 over Prairie Grove.

Defense dominated the third quarter and with neither team scoring, the Blackhawks were going to have a tight game going to the fourth and final quarter of play. The ’Hawks defense came up big in the fourth quarter holding Prairie Grove on fourth down and recovering an onside kick after a Prairie Grove touchdown.

The ’Hawks o◊ense punched it in two more times in the endzone and earning a big conference victory beating Prairie Grove 36 to 16.

The Junior High Blackhawks travel to Farmington Thursday to play the Cardinals on Halloween night.
