Pea Ridge FFA members went to fair

Members of the Pea Ridge High School FFA traveled to the 2013 Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Fort Smith. While there, students got to experience judging, and other various exhibits at this year’s fair.

Students received training in the areas of Livestock and Dairy Cattle judging from their agriculture teacher, Perry Mason, before they attended thisactivity. The judging contest at Ft. Smith was an exploratory event which exposed 80 percent of the FFA chapter members to the contest areas.

“I’ve talked to people of all ages who have been members of the Pea Ridge FFA in years past, and this is one of those events they remember for years … possibly a life-time!” Sadie Robertson, FFA secretary said.

Another student was heard commenting: “It sure beats sitting in classes andgoing to football practice!

Although, we still had practice when we got back.”

The next event for FFA members is directing parking at the annual Pea Ridge Mule Jump. Then, later, we will have a Chili Social and Hayride at the City Park, and end the month with a trip to Louisville, Ken., for the National FFA Convention.
