Anderson man stabbed to death

ANDERSON, MO. - A Monday night stabbing on Fourth Street in Anderson has left one man dead and another in the McDonald County Jail facing a charge of second degree murder.

Anderson Police Chief Donavon Pierson said his department received a call regarding a stabbing victim found at 501 Fourth Street at about 11:15 p.m. He said when o◊cers arrived they found Kevin Anderson, 29, of the Anderson area, on aporch where he was bleeding from a stab wound on the left side of his chest.

Pierson said paramedics arrived shortly after and could not save Anderson.

McDonald County coroner B.J. Goodwin pronounced Anderson dead at the scene.

According to Pierson, while combing the neighborhood, police o◊cer Seth Daniels saw a man walking down the street a block to a block and a half from where Anderson was found. He said Daniels approached the man, Boyd W. Marcum, 31, of Neosho, when the suspect put up his hands and Daniels took him into custody without incident.

According to a probable cause statement fi led by Anderson Police Cpl.

Michael Willet, Marcum stated that he stabbed Anderson with a pocket knife which was found in Marcum’s possession.

Marcum remains in the McDonald County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.

He pleaded not guilty at an Oct. 2 arraignment in McDonald County Circuit Court. A pre-trial conference has been set for Oct. 28.
