Winn, Caton spark Hendrix to victory

Former Blackhawk tailback Dayton Winn scored a pair of touchdowns while rushing for 116 yards to help lead the Hendrix College Warriors to a 48-29 victory over Texas Southwestern last Saturday. Casey Caton, the son of Lafe Caton, Pea Ridge Blackhawk football coach, also scored a pair of touchdowns on three long pass receptions.

Caton had both his catches in the first quarter to help the Warriors take a 14-0 fi rst quarter lead. His scoring receptions came from 41 and 33 yards out. Southwestern scored 9 in the second quarter to close the gap to 14-9 at the half.

Southwestern scored fi rst in the third quarter to take their first lead, but it didn’t last long as Winn scored on a 3-yard run moments later to regain the lead. Winn scored again on their next possession to put the Warriors further ahead at 28-16 heading into the last period. A fumble in the final quarter led to a 29-yard run by Hendrix quarterback Seth Peters to seal the contest.

The Warriors play in Jackson, Miss., this Saturday as they take on the Millsaps College Majors.
