Lois L. Brown

Lois L. Brown, age 80, of Aubrey, Texas, formerly of Coffeyville, Kan. and Bella Vista, Ark., died suddenly, but peacefully on Nov. 4, 2013, in McKinney, Texas.

Born July 19, 1933, in Kit Carson, Col., she was the daughter of Amos C. and Juanita (Stair) Kolb. She married G. Tom Brown on Aug. 22, 1963, in Miami, Okla. They were co-owners of Brown Electric Co. in Coffeyville, Kan., and she also owned Lo-Villa-B Builders in Bella Vista, Ark., where she designed, built and sold multiple homes.

She was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church. While in Bella Vista, she enjoyed participating and tapping with “The Sophisticated Ladies.” She was also a member or part of “The Georgia Boys and Girls,” along with her husband. They were members of the Kansas group in Bella Vista.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Lloyd Kolb.

She is survived by a daughter, Jan Garner and husband, Larry, Aubrey, Texas; two sons, Mike Brown and former wife, Jana, Joplin, Mo., and David Brown, Holly Grove, Ark.; four grandchildren, Holly Strong and husband, Jason, Casey Keller and husband, Brian, Katelyn Haight and husband, Travis, and Jordan Garner; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee Cohen, Conner Ramirez, Kinley Ramirez, Parker Strong, Hayden Strong, Carson Strong, and Talon Haight; two sisters, Violet Wilde, Puyallup, Wash., and Thelma Dewey and husband, Terry, Bella Vista.

A celebration of her life was Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, in Little Elm, Texas.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kan.

Ted Cox

Ted Cox, 83, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, Nov. 2, at his home.

His parents were Alice and Ted Cox Sr., and they lived in Montana. He graduated from Iowa State University. He was a large animal veterinarian for more than 40 years at Armour Meats in South Dakota.

He was married to Carmen Obermeyer and they were parents of two daughters. She died when their children were young adults and he married Pat Bosworth.

They retired and moved to Bella Vista. He was a faithful church member and belonged to a golf league and Bella Vista Fly Tyers and several other groups. Bridge was another of his hobbies.

He leaves behind his wife Pat of the home; two daughters, Jan Adams, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jody Eggers, Sioux Falls, S.D.; three stepsons, Ross, Brad and Brian Bosworth; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the Bella Vista Community Church.

Carolyn Carroll Howell

Carolyn Carroll Howell, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Pine Bluff, Ark., died at her home on Nov. 4, 2013. Born in West Helena on Oct. 16, 1934, Carolyn moved with her family to a farm near Elaine, Ark., as a child. She and her husband, Tom, met there and were married April 15, 1954. She obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Houston in 1957 and taught first grade in Texas and Maryland before she and Tom returned to Arkansas in 1962. She taught first and second grades for several years in Pine Bluff.

Her greatest passion was for her Lord whom she wholeheartedly served in churches wherever she lived, usually as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church at the time of her death.

She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Willie Carroll; two brothers, Thomas Carroll and William Carroll; and a sister, Virgie Henderson.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tom of the home; a son David Howell, and wife, Beverly, Conway, Ark.; a daughter, Judy Howell Adair, and husband, Randy Adair, Joplin, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Rebecca Adair Sanders, Margaret Adair, Scott Howell and Andrea Howell; and a sister, Rachael Rogers, Marvell, Ark.

Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Brown officiating. Interment was at Bella Vista Cemetery.
