Pea Ridge Graphic-Scene

The king and queen of the Pea Ridge Fall Festival were sophomore candidates, Susan Turek and Dwane Scism. The prince and princess were fourthgraders, Fred Sutton and Kim Knox. The winners were chosen based on amount of donations by each class.

The king and queen of the Garfi eld Halloween Carnival were Rusty Stockton and Tracy Burns. They were selected by receiving the most pennies. Kevin Wilson won best costume in the costume contest at the event.

Sherry Barnett, Gateway, was awarded a trip to the National 4-H Congress in Chicago. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Barnett, Jr., she was a senior at Pea Ridge High School and Pea Ridge 4-H Club member.

She was the state winner for the 4-H foods and nutrition project.

Delia Sauerbry had her sister, Irene Christopher Ratcliffe and family visit.

The two sisters hadn’t seen each other in 51 years.

The Pea Ridge Food Store proudly announced that Carol White had been promoted to assistant manager and Tom Galyen had assumed the duties of store manager.

Smokey and the Bandit part 3 started playing in movie theaters in northwest Arkansas.

The county Extension Homemakers council celebrated members who had been involved for at least 50 years. Members included Davie Andrews, Ruth Featherston, Esther Tyrrell, Verna McMillan, Mayme Morriss, Sadie Cunningham, Myrtle Featherston, Viola McKee, Cora Keck, Rhonda Martin, Verona, Hogan and Nadine Marlow.

The Harvest Bazaar washeld at the Pea Ridge United Methodist Church.

Volunteers included Mildred Greene, Hazel Dodd, Mayda Clanton, Vivian Dempsey, Eloise Tucker and Marie Rolland.

Area children on the honor roll at Benton County Christian School were Robert Nichols and Jeffrey Wassman, Avoca; and Jeff;Spivey and Rice Bertschy, Pea Ridge.

Members attending the Pea Ridge Over 55 Club included Jerry and Mavis Kroll, Mabel Shrum, Ralph and Flarence Ella Bolain, Ed Edwards, Ruth Talburt, Loyd and Ola Miller, Lucille Hackworth, Utah and Mary Smith, Wauneta Kenworthy, Waldo Schell, Helen Hansen, Jim and Margie Glaab, Charlotte Hughes, Maxine Richardson, Jean Plummer and Nadine Crabtree.

The clown troupe from Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church attended the Pea Ridge Fall Carnival. They made balloon animalswhile talking to people about the Bible.

The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

The Pea Ridge ’Hawk football team beat Lavaca 27-26. They fi nished the regular season 6-1 and got to compete in the playoffs of the 1AA state division.

The 2003 Pea Ridge drama class included Mikael Sanasac, Stephanie DeBoard, Katie Bowerman, Tabitha Ralston, Jessica Hinton, Melody Wisley, Cody Woodward, Paul Baker, Bradley Morgan, Bryan McBurnett, Zach Beranek, Lindsay Wisley, Merry Miller, Toby Dobbs, Cylie Laughlin, April Davis, Stevi Baugh, Jeremy Young and Valerie German.
