Library Notes: Open house and story hour soon

The library volunteers and I spent most of the week preparing for and hosting the kindergarten through third grades from the Pea Ridge School District. The children seemed to really like their visit to our new facility. A few parents have stopped by to get library cards. Since opening in early April there have been more than two dozen library cards issued to new patrons. We have people stopping in just to see the new library and several people are using the computers. While this is keeping us very busy, we are very pleased to have so many people using the library.

The library open house will be from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, June 4. Dignitaries will speak at 5:30 p.m.

Door prizes will be givenaway and light refreshments will be served. Stop by and help us celebrate our new home.

Raffle tickets for a beautiful quilt and a hand-made afghan will be sold during the open house. Tickets will be available in the library. The drawing date for these items will be in late June.

The first Summer Story Hour will be at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday, June 12. Miss Beth will read and have a craft project with the children. Registration slips are available at the library.

The Summer Reading Program will run June10-27. Come by the library and register your kindergarten through fifth-grade child/children. Only books checked out from the Pea Ridge Community Library qualify for this program.

There will be a multifamily garage sale at Derry Camp’s auction barn on Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31 The Camps will sell some of the library’s used books. Please sure to stop by and buy a few books for your summer reading. The Camps have are loyal supporters of the library and we appreciate all they have done for us.

The library now has a microwave donated by another loyal patron. Thank you very much. It will get lots of use, I am sure.

Hope all of you had a wonderful Memorial Day.

As I write this on Fridaymorning, May 24, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of four of my five sons and their families! This is a rare treat to have all the grandchildren here at the same time.

Please continue to remember the families in Oklahoma who lost so much when the tornado swept through the Moore area.

See you at the library.
