Library Notes: Students volunteered at library

Last week was such a good week at the library!

As part of a community beautification project six eighth-grade girls accompanied by Mrs. Wendy Martin, the Intermediate School media aide, volunteered at the library for a few hours Wednesday morning. To say that I appreciated their help would be an understatement! I had prepared a “To Do List” and they jumped right in and got it all done.

Thank you, Mrs. Martin, for all your help with the teen books.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons groups of sixth-graders came to the library. They were interested in the library and had lots of questions. Each group gave me names of authors and books they are interested in reading. The library budget for books will not allow me to purchase all the books they talked about so I will be putting a list of them on Facebook and in the library in the hopes that some of those books might be donated.

The primary classes from the Pea Ridge School District will be visiting the library Monday, May 20, and Thursday, May 23. These visits will begin at 8 a.m.

and will end around 3 p.m.

If you normally visit the library on Thursday, you may want to plan your trip after 3 p.m.

Thank you to the school district officials for allowing these visits and thank you to the students for their interest in the library.

All the students were polite and respectful and I enjoyed their visits. I look forward to seeing these young people at the library during the summer.

Plans are moving along for the Library Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. There will be speakers at 5:30 p.m. Door prizes will be given away each-half-hour between 4:30 and 7 p.m. except at 5:30 when dignitaries speak. Light refreshments will be served.

Another quilt has been donated and the Library Board will be selling raffle tickets that evening as well. We hope you can join us.

Patrons, please remember that books are checked out for a period of two weeks. If you are unable to get the books returned by the due date and you want them renewed, you need to contact the library by mid-afternoon on the day they are due. Otherwise, a fine of 20 cents per day per book will be levied starting at one minute past the library closing time. Fines accrue until the books are returned. Additional books may not be checked out until those fines are paid.

Computer users, please remember that you are welcome to use the computers. Children and teens must have written parental consent on file at the library.

Under no circumstances are you to download anything to the hard drive. If you violate this policy, your computer privileges will be suspended.

The library will be offering used books for sale at a Yard Sale at Derry and Sharon Camp’s Auction Barn on Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31. Stop by their place at East Pickens and Patterson Road. There will be a variety of things being sold in addition to our books. Thanks to the Camps for helping us out.

Four of my five sons and their families will start arriving on May 24 to spend a few days. I am excited.

Time with children and grandchildren is precious!

See you at the library!
