Pea Ridge artists shine at ACO art exhibition

Pea Ridge art students came home with 11 awards at the 14th annual Celebrate Art! Exhibition and Competition hosted by the Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale.

Pea Ridge Intermediate students captured first place in every grade as blue ribbons were taken in the third-, fourth- and fifth-grade divisions. In addition, a fourth- and third-grade student claimed the second and third best overall awards from all artists from kindergarten through the eighth grade.

The Primary School’s kindergarten class dominated their competition by taking three of the four awards presented.

The top winner was fourth grader Rebecca Trammel whose tempera painting “The Dance” garnered a blue ribbon in fourth grade competition while also earning the status of second best overall counting all grades.

The third best overall award was given to third-grader Joe Adams whose tempera painting of an owl entitled “Whoo are You?” also earned him first place in his grade.

The other first-place grade winner was Adam Trammell with his tempera painting “Indian Dancer” which was tops in the fifth-grade competition.

Also placing in the fifth grade was Mazon Harris who took fourth for his tempera painting “Columbus Ship.”

Fourth-grader Avery Escajeda took third place in her grade with a painting of a girl with flowing hair while third-grader Braidon McCarley took fourth with a black and white tempera painting of a basketball game.
