Lady Blackhawks take 3rd in tourney

The Lady Blackhawk softball team took third place Saturday in the Siloam Springs Lady Panther Invitational Tournament.

The tournament was played Friday, March 8, through Saturday, March 9. The Lady ’Hawks had a tournament record of 2-2.

Kendall Young, a senior, hit 5-9 at bats with four runs batted in.

Junior Kaylee Laster threw six innings, giving up five hits and two runs in Game 1 vs. Gentry.

Sophomore Rilee Patrick played well defensively all weekend.

“She was given a shot at the varsity level, and she took full advantage of the opportunity,” head softball coach Josh Reynolds said. “She was a bright spot on the weekend.”

Kaylee Laster, Jerika Schooley and Kealy Skaggs all pitched well.

“They gave us a chance to win and that is all we ask for from our pitching staff,” Reynolds said, adding that he was proud of the girls for playing so well after playing seven games last week.
