Library Notes: Relocated library is used by many

Three years ago when we learned of the gift of a building from Mercy Health, we (the members of the Library Board and I) had simple dreams and plans. I know we all hoped for a beautiful new location that would draw more of the community! Our dreams have come true! So many people in the community are using the library - checking out books, using the computers, attending the story hour, etc. It does get a bit busy at times, but we are just overjoyed by it all.

Recently I attended a meeting of the Library Development District 1 at the Gravette Public Library along with librarians and library directors from Ft.

Smith to Bella Vista. It was an incredible learning experience for me. Thanks to Kim Schneider from the Gravette Public Library for hosting the meeting and for the delicious lunch. I’m looking forward to the next meeting in August.

There is a real need to have a Friend’s of the Library group in Pea Ridge.

These groups do such good works for a library.

Fund raising is just one of the things they do to help a library. Several people have expressed an interest in joining. If you are interested, please contact me at 451-8442. When enough interest parties contact me, we can hold a meeting at the library with a lady from Rogers who has volunteered to help get our group started.

The Summer Story Hour is proving to be a big success. More than 25 children have attended each of the first two sessions. Forty children have signed up for the summer reading program. We are working on a date and location to hold the celebration. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are lots of brand new or new to the library children’s books are on the shelves and more to be processed in the coming week.

We are receiving many donated books so a BIG book sale is being planned.

I’ll share more on that later as details are finalized. Thank you everyone for your donations. A big thank you to the lady who is donating the Rainbow Fairy Series books after her daughter reads them. Chapter books are in demand now.

What a difference the brickwork on the library makes. Each day the building looks better and better.

The men doing the work have been working 10- to 12-hour days to get the majority of the work completed while the library is closed.

Come see us at the library.
