Sidewalks connect school, park

Long in the planning stages, sidewalks along Hayden Road are to be constructed this summer. City Council members approved plans presented by Rick McGraw, project engineer, and Daniel Barnes, both from Mc-Clellen Engineers, at the regular council meeting.

“We opened bids April 26,” Barnes told council members.

“If you guys are ready to move forward, we can get started on the project.”

The project should take about 45 days, according to McGraw.

The sidewalk is to connect the City Park to the high school campus.

Council members accepted the bid from Diamond Construction for $98,612.19. More than half of the cost will be paid by a grant from Safe Routes to Schools, according to Nathan See, Street Department superintendent.
