Free lunch served

About 85 students ate lunch at Pea Ridge Primary School Monday, the first day of the summer free lunch program.

“It will become better,” Rick Neal, school superintendent, said, adding that about 20 of those students were from Kids Academy, a daycare in town.

Many students on campus for the basketball camp and sports practices also ate lunch on campus.

Neal said about 25 students rode the bus.

Bus service is provided throughout town. Any children under 18 years of age may eat free. Meals are served in the Primary School cafeteria.

Even though students are out of school, many school personnel are still on campus. There is master teacher training this week,Neal said.

He said work is progressing on the football stadium, even though the ground is water logged. He anticipates the artificial turf to be installed Thursday.

New security systems will also be installed this summer, he said.
