Library Notes: Library is growing: more books

It seems that the library gets busier each week and that is a very good thing!

I am delighted to see our library grow even though it means I have to work harder getting and keeping up-to-date reading material available. It also means I am meeting more nice people. It seems to me that we have more male patrons using the library, which is another plus.

I haven’t seen the inside of the new building in several days, but I know the guys have really been working hard. A lot of the tile has been laid but an uneven concrete floor is proving to be a challenge.

Among the visitors to the library lately was Myra Moran, owner of the Trolley Line Bookshop in Rogers. We visited inthe library and at noon ended up sharing a booth at Blackhawk Grill. Myra has been such a help to me since I became the librarian. On Friday, I stopped by her shop and picked up several boxes of large print books that she graciously donated to the library.

While visiting with Myra at her shop, I mentioned that I had spoken with someone at the Literacy Council of Benton County office regarding holding classes at the new library. I told her that we need to find people whoare willing to become certified to teach the classes.

Turns out Myra became certified some time ago and has taught classes and might be able to teach still. I so want to be able to hold classes once we are settled in the new building. Anyone interested in teaching, please call me and I will put you in touch with my contact at the Literacy Council. There is a very real need for this service.

We also hope to be able to offer a genealogy class.

I have the name of someone who might be willing to teach classes. Let me know if you would be interested in taking a class.

The library is receiving Time magazine and the Smithsonian magazine and I want to thank the person(s) responsible forhaving them sent to us.

We hope to have subscriptions to additional popular magazines later this year.

We still accept donations of magazines as they are very popular with some of our patrons.

Thanks to all of you who are helping our library to grow!

See you at the library!
