The Pea Ridge School District began Saturday sessions to help make up for time lost due to an extended period of icy conditions, which forced schools to remain closed.

Eva Green was the hostess in her home for the February meeting of the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian women of the church. Mae Miller presented the lesson, the topic, “Witness of the Laity.” She gave an interesting and inspiring lesson, stressing the importance of evangelism in the church.

Navy Seaman Recruit Ricky L. Livingston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale L. Livingston of Garfield, graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center at San Diego.

Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation’s newest investment in services for Pea Ridge would total $1.25 million when completed, according to Don Smothers, manager of the Bentonville office.

Donations of $570 were reported to the board of directors of the Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County when they met at Lost Bridge Lodge.

Arsonists set four fires in or near the Pea Ridge National Military Park; however, all were extinguished before extensive damage could occur.

The coming of cable television to the Lost Bridge area, and how the area is to dispose of its solid waste were the main topics of the Lost Bridge Area Men’s Club regular meeting.

Three Pea Ridge students were presented checks for being the finalists in the school’s spelling bee.

They were Andy Dezarov, second place, $15; Tony Humphrey, first place, $25;

and Freddie Walker, third place, $10.

An ordinance for the issuance of $300,000 bond to fund the new emergency services building in Pea Ridge was approved by the City Council during their regular meeting.

State Rep. Randy Bryant of Pea Ridge attended the Arkansas Farm Bureau’s “farmers day” at the state capitol. More than 115 county Farm Bureau presidents and legislative chairmen visited with legislators.

The Pea Ridge School Board awarded a contract to a Rogers firm that was low bidder for construction of new classrooms at Pea Ridge Elementary School.

It was announced thatthe entrance fees at Pea Ridge National Military Park would increase from $2 per adult to $3 and $4 per carload to $5.

The annual park pass increased from $10 to $15.

Connie Grau’s middle school science students prepared for the middle school science fair.

The 99th birthday celebration for Winnie Martin Nichols Shelton made for a full and enjoyable day at Pea Ridge United Methodist Church.

Pea Ridge Junior boys finished second in the district tournament, getting defeated by Eureka Springs 31-29 in the finals.

The 2003 Colors Day Queen was Megan Morgan.
