Library Notes: Library volunteers much needed

Talk about a week of highs and lows - this past week was one of those.

The high was a very large donation to the library that left me shocked, surprised and elated. The members of the Library Board and I appreciate all the donations that have been given to the library. It means much to know that so many of you support the library.

The low was the doctor’s diagnosis that I have hives!

Probably caused by stress - can’t imagine that! Good thing is it is not contagious, but is not pretty and itches like crazy. Benadryl and Claritin provide some relief.

We now have a Tuesday night volunteer and are so happy to have her. I know she is going to be a huge benefit to the library.

All the board members are working hard on planning the move, finding equipment and supplies and revising library policy.

We are still seeking volunteers who are willing to help with the Literacy Project at the library. I would be happy to put you in touch with someone at the Literacy Council of Benton County who can explain all the details. Briefly, volunteers attend training sessions and then teach a class at our library. There are many people in Benton County who would benefit by learning to read. Please give it some thought.

James Patterson’s “Private London” arrived last week. There is a waiting list and if you want to add your name to that list give the library a call at 451-8442.

Several large print books have been added. Several books about the Civil War were donated last week andhopefully will be ready for check-out this week.

Don’t forget the Soup and Dessert Supper at the Heritage Building on Saturday, Feb. 16. Sounds like there will be some good soups and desserts available.

See you at the library!
