Santa will read to children on Dec. 10

This week’s column will be very short as I am in a food induced coma that began the day before Thanksgiving! It was so nice to have my family here - missed the ones who couldn’t make it but thoroughly enjoyed the time with everyone who could get time o◊work to be here. It was so much fun watching the grandchildren interact with each other.

Even though they don’t see each other but a couple of times a year, they get along so well. Erma Bombeck was right when she said that if she had known how much fun grandchildren were she would have had them fi rst!

Grandparents are richly blessed.

While I was o◊last week Cinda and Lee were busy processing the large printbooks that were donated the week before. New releases and used books for sale have traded spaces in the library. We have been getting so many “new releases” and “new to the library” books that we need to make a location change.

There are still many used books for sale so come by and see what we have.

Might want to stock up on a few just in case we get some winter weather and you don’t want to get out.

Things will be in high gear at the library next week in preparation for Santa’s visit on Tuesday, Dec. 10. He will be here toread to the children at 5:30 p.m. and hopefully will have a little time to visit with them after the story time.

We received the fi rst batch of Summer Reading Program materials last week. We will be placing an order for additional materials soon. This program runs for three weeks in the summer with prizes awarded to the child who reads the most books in their grade level and a prize to the child who reads the most books overall.

Program is open to kindergarten through 5th-grade students. Be sure to watch Facebook and this column for the start date.

I love having the working fireplace now. It does not produce much heat, but it just looks very nice.

Thanks to Tony and Bobfor taking care of that for us.

We have received quite a number of donated books over the past couple of months that we are not able to use and have donated a lot of them to the Samaritan House. I am thankful that we were able to share them with a group that will put them to good use.

See you at the library!
