Library Notes: New books in at new library

Life is slowly, but surely, getting back to normal at the library. Almost all of the books have been scanned into the new system - we are still working on the adult and juvenile non-fiction and the Science fiction and fantasy books.

There are several new releases on the shelves.

Among those are: C. J.

Box’s latest Joe Pickett release, “Breaking Point;” Earline Flower’s “Road To Cardinal Valley;” “Don’t Go” by Lisa Scottoline;

Debbie Macomber’s “Starting Now;” and a new thriller by J. A. Jance, “Deadly Stakes” - book number eight in the Ali Reynolds series.

For the children, we have “Pinstripe Ghost” (Ballpark Mysteries), “Nightmare of the Iguana” - Dragonbreath Series, and “Dark Passage” - number six in the Kingdom Keeper’s Series.

And several titles for the young adults : “Burn for Burn,” “Inferno,” “Forgotten,” “Third Bullet” and “Light.”

Our new system will let us put a book on reserve and will give us a reminder of who wants to read it when it is returned. No more post-it notes on my desk.

There are a number of books on order which should begin to arrive late in the week. Plans are to block out some time to read through the new children’s book catalogs and place an order for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Maybe new books will inspire more children to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. There will be more on that program and the Summer Story Hour in an up-coming column.

If there is a particular book you are interested in reading, let me know. If it is something that is suitable for the library and would be popular with our readers, I can certainly try to purchase a copy.

I had the opportunity to show off the library to some visitors from the Pea Ridge Primary School. I am excited that some of the students will be coming to the library for a tour next month. I am looking forward to working with the school to promote the library to the students and their families.

We are still looking for volunteers - Wednesday morning, Thursday morning and afternoon. Even if you can only work a few hours a month, we would love to speak with you about volunteering.

See you at the library!
