— Free flu shots for veterans

The Pea Ridge Veterans of Foreign Wars is sponsoring free flu shots to all veterans from 2 - 4 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Pea Ridge Presbyterian Church basement. Beth Nail from Fayetteville VA clinic will administer the shots.

Pea Ridge Golf Classic slated for Oct. 20

The 19th annual Pea Ridge Golf Classic Four-Person Scramble is set for Saturday, Oct. 20, at Big Sugar Golf Club.

Free breakfasts will be offered beginning at 6 a.m. at White Oak Station and lunch will be served at The Turn, the restaurant on the course.

Teams will be drawn on Wednesday evening, Oct. 17, at The Turn. Players must be 21 years of age and either work in Pea Ridge, live in Pea Ridge, be a member of Big Sugar Golf Club or be a Pea Ridge High School alumni.

The shotgun start will begin at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $40 per person. Breakfast, lunch, beverages and caps are all included in the entry fee.

Proceeds from the tournament will stay in the community, according to Jerry Wilkerson, co-manager of Big Sugar.

Mule Jump slated

The 24th annual Pea Ridge Mule Jump is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 13 and includes halter-class mule events, barrel races, flag races, pole bending and mule jumping. Volunteers are needed for the committee. Vendor booth reservation forms and non-profit booth reservation forms are available at City Hall, 451-1101.
