Lady ’Hawks get 2nd in two tourneys

— The Lady ’Hawks Volleyball team took second at the Harrison Slam Fest tournament Saturday, Sept. 8.

The team started the day with a (25-24) and (25-18) win against Harrison. Mikhaela Cochran led the team with 10 service points.

Their next victory came against Valley Springs with (25-10) and (25-6) sets. Jordan Ingram led the team with 13 service points. The Lady ’Hawks then fell to Mountain Home in the championship game losing (11-25) and (11-25).

The Lady ’Hawks continueD theirregular season, working to build on a 9-6 start to the season.

Lady Blackhawks at Southwest

The Lady Hawks Volleyball team took second at the Southwest Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 15. The Lady Hawks started pool play with Southwest and won both sets (25-15). They then split the next two sets with Forsyth (20-25) (25-20). Continuing in pool play, the team defeated Lincoln (25-9) and (25-13). The Hawks finished pool play as the number one seed in their pool.

The team then began tournament play against Verona. The Hawks beat Verona in two sets (25-15) and (25-18). The team advanced to the championship game to once again face Forsyth.

The Lady Hawks fell in two sets, (19-25) and (22-25).

Many players contributed to the overall success of the LadyHawks. Mikhaela Cochran had 15 aces on the day. Jerika Schooley led the team with 16 aces and seven assists. Sara Kahle led the team on the net with 41 kills and eight blocks on the day. Anna Morgan had nine assists for the day. Kahle and Cochran were named All Tournament-First team.

The Lady ’Hawks continue conference play on Thursday at Gravette.
