Homes rebuilt

— Hundreds of volunteers painted, hammered and visited while rebuilding three homes in Pea Ridge last Saturday. They were renovating the houses through the Rebuilding Together of Northwest Arkansas. Young people learned the value of volunteering as coaches of the Blackhawks and Central Jr. High Lady Warriors encouraged their athletes to join the project.

Others working included youngsters from the Boys and Girls Club of Bentonville, youth from Benton County Juvenile Probation.

The focus this weekend were homes owned by John and Sharon Burkett, Weston Street; Chris and Sara Martfeld, Patton Street;

and Harriett Horn, Asboth Street. House captains were Ken Castoe, Brandon Ward and Rex Luttrell.

The scope of work included removing and replacing a back deck, painting the homes, repairing a bathroom leak, improving access to a home, replacing rotten flooring and caulking windows.

Jan Skopecek, executive director of Rebuilding Together, said Pea Ridge is a great communityin which to work.

Sponsors include Wal-Mart, RC&D of Northwest Arkansas, United Way, Living Word Lutheran Church, Arvest, Bentonville Church of Christ.
