Robinson golfs in national tourney

— Jerry Robinson of Rogers, postmaster at Pea Ridge Post Office, has earned enough points in the Senior Sarazen flight (12.0-15.9) of the Golf Channel Amateur Tour of Arkansas to earn his way to the National Championship. Robinson will compete against nearly 200 other 50-plus-year-olds in his flight for the title of National Champion from Sept. 4-7. Robinson said his highlight of the year was winning his first event at the Patricia Island Estates and Golf Club in Grove, Okla.

Robinson credits his success to realizing that he actually could compete since he was competing only against players of his own skill level, and that motivated him to practice. Robinson loves the AM Tour of Arkansas because he gets to travel, play nice courses and develop friendships with golfers from all over the United States, he said.

The Golf Channel Amateur Tour is real competition open to players of all skill levels in 12 flights including senior flights.
