Miss Yvonne Snow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill M. Snow of Pea Ridge, was selected by the senior Blackhawks football team as their 1972 Homecoming Queen.

The Bank of Pea Ridge passed the $3 million mark in assets. Just a short six years before, the bank had not yet reached $1 million in assets.

John Gorman of T.J. Raney and Sons Co., hired by the local school board, presented to the State Board of Education an application to allow the Pea Ridge School Board to ask voters in the Pea Ridge School District to approve what was expected to amount to a $375,000 bond issue to “construct and equip a new gymnasium, make additions and improvements to the existing elementary school and make additions and improvements to all existing school facilities.” 30 Years Ago Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1982

The Pea Ridge District 109 School Board met and viewed a presentation by teachers of a proposed computer learning program, received a fifth application for the position of superintendent and discussed problems in the current credit requirements for graduation.

Three members of the Pea Ridge Planning Commission met at City Hall. Four are necessary for a quorum.

After waiting for a half hour, the meeting was called offfor lack of a quorum. Members absent were Penny Wimmer and Don Haller.

Jim Cheek’s civics class met with Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt. The congressman gave them a short lesson in civics - the duties and responsibilities of members of Congress.

Senior cheerleaders included Tracy Buck, captain, Shelly Wilkerson, Marla Gastineau, Christine Bloxham and Lisa Weston. They were coached by Jody Rittenhouse.

20 Years Ago Thursday, Oct. 29, 1992 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

Pea Ridge engineer Jay Hale, owner of Hale Engineering, donated a Top Jump machine, which hedesigned, to Pea Ridge High School. Top Jump was an apparatus to train athletes for increased vertical and horizontal jumping skills.

September star students in kindergarten and first grade at Pea Ridge Elementary School were Bryan McBurnett, Toni Clairmont, Tina Pence, Zach Henry, Amber Perser, Kim Martin, Derek Flaming and Tara Dollar.

Pea Ridge businessman and writer Wayne Weatherford won third place with his Western fiction entry at the 19th Annual Ozark Creative Writers Conference.

Sharon Kopejtka, Garfield, won 50 pounds of ground beef at Montgomery’s IGA.

10 Years Ago Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

Dr. Karen Sherman of Oak View Animal Clinic reported that the first case of West Nile Virus had been confirmed in Pea Ridge. A 5-year-old non-vaccinated horse in the Pea Ridge area tested positive for the virus.

Air Force Airman Kendall L. Simpson, son of Shari and Junior Simpson of Pea Ridge, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The Pea Ridge High School Marching Blackhawk band attended the Elkins Band Contest and earned an Excellent Award.
