Stadium OKd

— The large-scale development plan for the new football stadium was approved by members of the Pea Ridge Planning Commission at its regular meeting Tuesday, Oct. 2, with acceptance of a variance for parking.

The plan provides for 691 parking spots, with 452 on pavement and the rest on grass. The stadium is expected to seat 2,000 persons.

Appearing before city planners were school superintendent Rick Neal, architect Steve Elliot and from Baldwin & Shell - Mike Castagna, Bobby Welsh and Ron Phillips.

Planner Jerry Burton recommended a fence along the west side of the property between the stadium grounds and the privacy fence now behind the Standing Oaks subdivision. Handicap parking was also discussed as was the possibility of widening driveways on school property.

Castagna told planners he hopes to begin construction by mid-November and be finished by June in time for the 2012 football season.
