In His Study: Don’t worry about tomorrow

— “Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia.” —– Charles Schultz

God has many things to say about our thoughts on tomorrow.

“Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1)

“If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Luke 12:28).

Here in Luke, Jesus is speaking, showing us clearly that our tomorrow is in the hands of God. Our worry or boasting about tomorrow doesn’t accomplish our boast or remove that about which we worried.

As Charles Schultz’s statement reminds us, our spot on the globe isn’t the only time slot on the planet. I may be closing out my work day, but the folks in Beijing are just beginning their day. Tomorrow is already today for them. What may have seemed utterly impossible for them about their to- morrow, has faded into the dawn of the new day, and new hope in their hearts.

Our greatest need in our thoughts of tomorrow is the need to remember that God has our best interest in his plans for that mor- row, and those that follow. His admonition to us is simple: Don’t be folks of little faith, but have faith in our God who holds our morrows in His hands.
