The first snowfall of the season fell in Pea Ridge Country, with one weather observer believing that as much as 10 inches may have fallen on Pea Ridge, although for hours it melted as it fell before finally starting to stick.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Baggett and Mrs. and Mrs. Franklin Miller, all from Pea Ridge, attended the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Convention of the American Bankers Association in Denver.

The Pea Ridge E.H. Club served a Thanksgiving dinner to the public with 49 dinners sold. Albert McKnight won the door prize.

30 Years Ago Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1982 Pea Ridge Country Times

Arson was suspected in a rash of fires in rough country east of Avoca. The fires, the largest of which burned about 100 acres, required responses from Avoca, Beaver Shores and NEBCO volunteer fire departments, as well as the Forest Service.

Lost Bridge Village Community Association, in a formal letter, requested the county to establish speed limits on the roads in the Village.

Officers elected to head the Lost Bridge Area Men’s Club were Randy Kasper, secretary-treasurer; Del Pelton, president; and Ben Volpe, vice president.

Brenda Webb led all scorers in the first home game of the senior Lady Blackhawks against Lincoln. She scored 22 on nine field goals and four free throws.

Eighty-six senior citizens were served Thanksgiving Dinner compliments of the Beta Alpha Sorority of Pea Ridge.

20 Years Ago Thursday, Nov. 26, 1992 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

Approximately 175 people attended the annual Thanksgiving service sponsored by the Pea Ridge Area Ministerial Alliance.

Star students at Pea Ridge Elementary included fifth graders Chris Ehlers, Meranda Marlow and Josh Carter; sixth-graders included Ronnie Shelton, Will Rogers and Kathie Rusher; kindergartners Jeffie Pitts, Brandin Casteel Cylie Laughlin, Shae Fuller and Andrew Fielder;

and first-graders Shawn Woods, Samantha Roughton and Carl Weaver.

The football Blackhawks ended the season with a 10-1-1 record, losing to Murfreesboro 35-23 in the state playoffs.

Pea Ridge High School math and science teacher, Brad Neidecker, and principal Jerry Endsley accepted a $3,300 check donated to the school by Wal-Mart Distribution centers for a new computer.

The Pea Ridge Planning Commission held three public hearings. The first hearing was for the placement of a mobile home at 2053 Patterson Rd.,the second request was for keeping two or three horses at 716 S. Curtis Ave.

and the third hearing was for a variance on building setback requirements on lot 13, Leetown Addition, at 240 Smith St.

Employees from ArvestBank went to Pea Ridge Elementary School and gave goodie bags to the kindergarten through fourth grade students. Bugs Bunny went along to help promote the bank’s Looney Tune accounts.

The First Baptist Church Youth Band performed special music for the Community Thanksgiving service.

Band members included: Sean Rhuda, electric bass;

Melody and Lindsay Wisley, vocalists; Jeffrey Johnson, drums; Chad Arnold, guitar; and Matt Johnson, guitar and vocals.

Family and friends from several generations feasted at the annual Beta Alpha Thanksgiving meal. The tradition has gone on for about 25 years.
