Miraculously spared

— A Pea Ridge man is back home recuperating from injuries received in a one-vehicle accident Saturday morning after spending several days in ICU at Washington Regional Hospital.

It was about 2 a.m. Saturday.

Jeremy Spotts, 24, was westbound on Gann Ridge Road, less than a mile from his house, heading home from his fiance’s house when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, according to Benton County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Kristina Bertschy. Bertschy, with the BCSO accident reconstruction team, said it appeared that Spotts lost control of his vehicle, a 2010 GMC pickup truck, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, overcorrected, left the roadway again and hit a tree in a ditch and overturned.

“He was traveling at a high rate of speed,” Bertschy said, but said it did not appear that he was going 100 miles per hour, as was stated by another deputy.

Family and friends passed along prayer requests and gathered at the hospital early Saturday morning.

“It is a miracle,” said Annita Spotts, Jeremy’s mother.“We know God saved him.

We are so grateful for the prayers and visits of family and friends.”

Spotts was in ICU Saturday and Sunday, then moved to a regular room Sunday evening. He was released Monday.

Emergency responders from Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire/EMS Department responded to the scene. It took about 45 minutes to cut Spotts out of the vehicle, according to the report.
