— At a special meeting, the Pea Ridge School Board voted to hire Roy A. Roe of Foreman, Ark., as the new superintendent of Pea Ridge Schools.

A Pea Ridge man, Floyd Suttle, was selected a Morton House Shopping Spree winner, and was given five minutes at Phillips Shopping Center in which he could have all the groceries he could put into baskets.

Mrs. Eddie Adcock, Mrs. Allan Gastineau, Mrs. John Knox and Mrs. Robert Whitmer attended State ESA Convention, representing the Beta Alpha Chapter of the ESA Sorority.

In a short City Council meeting, Little Flock heard the final reading of Ordinance No. 4 regarding a city Planning Commission and voted unanimously to accept the ordinance as read.

A $100,000 check was presented to the City of Pea Ridge by a representative of Gov. Frank White.

The check represented full disbursement of the loan which was made through the Farmers Home Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Arkansas Soil and Water Conservation Commission. It was used for construction of the new sewer treatment facility.

Avoca Mayor Rod Clardyand Alderman Phillip Latham submitted written resignations to Recorder Diane Bowen.

Darrel Korbelic qualified for the Class A State Track Meet in the mile. Terri Davis and Tammy Heim also qualified for state.

The Seligman, Mo., City Council decided not to annex rural areas served by the city’s water system, despite requests for annexation by some property owners.

20 Years Ago Thursday, May 14, 1992 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

A survey requested by school superintendent Marvin Higginbottom forecasted nearly 1,000 students in the Pea RidgeSchool District by the 1995-1996 school year. There were nearly 750 students in the district in 1992.

The Pea Ridge City Council heard discussion that the Pea Ridge Ambulance has been on site for Saturday night races at Northwest Arkansas Speedway on Arkansas Hwy. 72 just west of Pea Ridge.

Devonna Nobles opened Guys and Gals, a hair salon, in what used to be Sports Plus at Arkansas Hwy. 72 W. and Weston Street.

There was considerable discussion before the Pea Ridge School Board as to whether Good Friday should be a school holiday.

The board decided to make Good Friday a holiday.

Beverly Buterbaugh opened Fashions and More, a resale store on Slack Street, west of the Dollar General store.

There were 56 graduating seniors from Pea Ridge High School 2002 graduating class.

The Pea Ridge Middle School Band attended the Musical Carousel Festival in Ozark, Mo., and earned a superior rating in their concert performance.

Rachel Lorene Shults, Pea Ridge, received the Volleyball “Mustang” Award at a student appreciation banquet at Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark.
