— Robert Benard “Benny” Allen

Robert Benard “Benny” Allen, 77, of Springdale, died Saturday, March 24,2012, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Springdale, to DeanCopen and Leonora Hicken Allen.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Pea Ridge. Benny was a pilot and he loved to fly.

He was an avid Razorback fan. He adored his grandchildren. He owned and operated Allen Brothers Masonry for many years.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Hild.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Laura Allen of the home; oneson, Robert Dean Allen of Anacortes, Wash.; three daughters, Cindy Webb and husband, Jack, of Elkins, Dorothy Mabry and husband, Danny, of Springdale, and Becky Harris and husband, Mike, of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Leon Allen of Springdale and Phillip Allen of Springdale;

three sisters, Renelda Hebert of Springdale, Connie Marshall of Oklahoma City and Kathleen Ginotti of Kensington, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel, Springdale.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale.

Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Bette Hendrix

GARFIELD - Bette Hendrix, 86, of Garfield, died March 21 2012, at her home. She was born in Wichita, Kan., on Dec. 11, 1925.

She worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., for Coleman Outdoors in Wichita, and later retired from Wal-Mart stores.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Wayne Hendrix.

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Morgan and husband, Jerry, of Roseburg, Ore., Tierney Garrett of Garfield and Bronwyn Springfield and husband, Dwight, of Garfield; sisters, Roberta of California, Ruth of Kansas;

10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Wanda Mae Townsend

Wanda Mae Townsend, 79, of Bentonville, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in Bentonville. She was born April 22, 1932, in Bentonville, to James and Martha “Mattie” Mattingly.

She was a member of the Park Street Baptist Church in Bentonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Eugene Mattingly.

Survivors include her husband, James Townsend, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Townsend ofPea Ridge, Buddy and Anita Townsend of Bentonville and Tommy and Paula Townsend of Bentonville;

a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and Ronald Whittle of Anderson, Mo.;

brothers, Ray Mattingly and wife, Betty, of Bentonville, and Bill Mattingly and wife, Kathy, of Centerton;

15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 22, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Park Street Baptist Church in Bentonville.

Services were under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Jean Vaughn

Jean Vaughn, 86, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in Fayetteville. She was born March 25, 1925, in Pea Ridge, to Edwin “Doc” Brown andWinnie Crabtree Brown.

She was a Methodist and owned and operated local Radio Shack stores.

She also owned and operated Craft World-Tandy Leather.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul.

Survivors include three sons, David Vaughn of Fayetteville, Craig Vaughn of Fayetteville and Eric Vaughn of Goshen; one daughter, Avis Ruge of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.

Visitation was at 9 a.m.

Saturday, March 24.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Moore’s Chapel.

Burial followed in Pea Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
