A representative of the Taylor Engineering firm was scheduled to meet with residents of Little Flock to discuss the possibility of piping water from Beaver Reservoir into the area.

A program allowing academically talented high school students to get a head start on their college education was made available to Pea Ridge High School students. Students with a “B” average or better could take up to six hours of course work at Ouachita Baptist University during each summer term between their junior and senior years.

Golda Calvin of Pea Ridge received a letter from television star, Dennis Weaver. Weaver’s letter was in reply to one directed to him by Mrs.

Calvin regarding his appearance on the Dinah Shore program.

The Pea Ridge School District 109 Board of Education elected Kenneth Patterson its new president, Ronald Foster its new vice-president and re-elected Tony Fletcher, Jr., its secretary/treasurer.

Mitchell Webb, Pea Ridge, filed for the Democratic nomination as candidate for Justice of the Peace for Dist. 8. Lanette Tillman, Garfield, also announced her intention to file for the same post as aRepublican.

Fred Sutton received the most trophies presented to a boy at the Pea Ridge Blackhawks Athletic Awards Banquet. The girl who received the most trophies and awards was Terri Davis.

Jay Hale, Pea Ridge, announced that he would qualify for the Democratic nomination for the new District 4 Arkansas House of Representatives seat.

Roy Roe announced he would also seek the Democratic nomination for the same seat.

Former Rogers bankerRay Harris was the featured speaker at the annual Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce dinner.

Family and friends of Mrs. Florence Beguin, former owner of Florence’s Cafe in Pea Ridge, gathered in Ponca City, Okla., to celebrate her 80th birthday.

Scotty J. Easter, son of Larry and Ina Easter of Pea Ridge, enlisted in the U.S. Army’s Delayed Entry Program.

Much of the $14,400 in write-offs approved for the Pea Ridge Ambulance Department at the citycouncil meeting reflected the difference between actual costs and Medicare and Medicaid payments.

Ambulance director Bob Kitterman explained that since the city began accepting Medicare and Medicaid, it must now, by law, write-off the difference.

Meredith Mitchell, 2, won an Easter basket full of goodies at the annual Beta Alpha Sorority Easter Egg Hunt.

Pea Ridge High School senior Dewayne Barnett was selected to travel to the Gold Coast, Australia, as part of an all-star high school football team that represented the state of Arkansas at the 2002 Down Under Bowl.
