Library Notes: Story hour expands to two days a week

— Life in the library is moving at warp speed, or so it seems to me! We are now offering Story Hour from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

There were just too many children to try and have just one session. There are 42 children registered. It gets a bit hectic between 10:15 a.m. and noon, but it is so worth it if this helps the children develop a love of reading. I can’t wait until we are in the new building with much more room for children’s programs.

Speaking of the new building, we are hopeful that the final working drawings will be delivered this week and construction can begin. In short, this means all those books that we have been storing there need to be moved. So, beginning June 28, boardmember Dottie Adriano will be selling books at the Farmer’s Market each Thursday afternoon. There are always used books for sale at the library.

If you have not gotten your raffle tickets for the quilt being auctioned for the library building fund, stop by this week. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Does it seem possible that the fourth of July is so near? Hope you all are making plans to attend the Pea Ridge Fair. Sounds like this is going to be an exciting fair year.

If you have children or grandchildren who plan ontaking part in the Summer Reading Program, be sure to get them signed up. Registration forms are at the library.

Thanks to all the library volunteers. I appreciate all the work you do to help make the library run smoothly. And a special thanks to the “Candy Lady” for providing the treats that kids of all ages enjoy. She also takes care of all our seasonal decorations.

Thanks also to the person who left a quart of fresh blackberries in front of the library door while I was away. My friend took them home and put them in the freezer. I am saving them for a special occasion.

Congratulations to board member Heather Kleber and her husband, Kyle, on the birth of their beautiful daughter, Elise. We can’t wait to meet her.

This would be a great week to visit the library.

With the forecast being for temperatures in the upper 90s, this would be a good time to stay inside in the cool and read a good book.

I don’t have any new adult fiction/non-fiction to report on this week. I have been busy getting children/ teen books ready for the shelves.

See you at the library!
