Thomas in jail; trial July 24

— Danny Thomas has been in jail 329 days in lieu of a $500,000 bond, according to Newton County, Mo., Prosecutor’s Attorney investigator Steven Bach.

Thomas, 61, is charged with first degree murder in the July 26, 2011, murder of Darrell Bone, formerly of Pea Ridge. Bone owned the farm in Stella, Mo., on which Thomas was living. According to Newton County Sheriff’s Office records, Bone had driven to the farm to tell Thomas the residence had been sold and he must move out.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2011, Thomas told David Bunch of Neosho that he had shot Bone the night before and then driven around all night in Bone’s truck.

Thomas was arrested and held in Newton County Jail.

Trial is scheduled for 9 a.m.

Tuesday, July 24, in McDonald County, Mo.
