Freedom Fest Sunday

— Fireworks will explode over Pea Ridge Sunday night during the fifth annual Freedom Fest.

Freedom Fest, hosted by First Assembly of God, and sponsored by First Assembly, as well as New Life Fellowship, New Life Church, River of Faith, Mt. Vernon Presbyterian and Pea Ridge Church of the Nazarene, is free to the public. There will be a car show, free food, inflatables, games, music on the church property on WestonStreet. Cotton candy and snow cones, chicken wraps, a dunking booth

The car show begins at 4 p.m., music begins at 6 p.m. and fireworks begin at dark. This year, the fireworks, which are donated by pastor Edwin Brewer, owner of USA Fireworks, will be set off from Pea Ridge Little League ballfields, just south of the church.

Brewer said the value of the fireworks he donates is between $4,000 to $5,000.

The event began with about 120 people in attendance the firstyear and expanded to nearly 1,200 people last year.

“We want to give back to the community. Let’s serve our community,” Brewer said.

Tysons is a big contributor as is Marvins.

There will be a drawing for a large collection of fireworks now on display at Arvest Bank. Chances to win will be available at Freedom Fest. All proceeds from this project will go to assist Ron & Rosey Booth (assistant pastors at Pea Ridge Assembly of God) with their medical bills.
