Library Notes: Library is bursting at the seams

— As I write this on the evening of June 7, I am excited I can hardly string words together to form a sentence!

Today was our first Story Hour of the summer and the attendance was overwhelming. Almost 30 children attended with a parent or guardian. The library was filled. There were two of us working the desk and we had a hard time keeping up with checking in books, checking out books, issuing library cards, etc.

Thank you, Mrs. Peggy Lowdon and her helpers, for a job very well done.

The kids all left with the craft they made - a fish made from a brown paper lunch bag, decorated with glitter glue. I think some of the kids may even have been wearing some of the glitter glue.

Because our children’s room at the library is very small and we have such an interest in our program this year, starting June 20, the library will be open on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m.

to noon. We will have a story hour from 10:30 to 11:30 each Wednesday also. A high school girl will read to the children and help them make a craft project.

Thank you to the adults who accompanied these well behaved children to the library.

I hope to see everyone each week.

For anyone who wants to visit the library I would suggest you plan your trip for anytime but Thursday morning. It is a bit crowded!

Things are moving right along with the newlibrary. No construction yet but hopefully very soon it will begin. Looking forward to having Story Hours in the new building.

I will be out this week but Cinda will be filling in for me.
