CLUB NEWS: Granny’s Quilts of Love

— Granny’s Quilts of Love met at 9:30 a.m. May 15, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. Mary Margaret Webb opened the meeting with a prayer.

Twelve members and one guest, Sandy Herzberg were present.

The total number of quilts made as of May meeting is 13,457.

Mildred Patton advised she will not be able to make pillows anymore. Thank you, Mildred, so much for all the hours put in to making 3,551 pillows and 1,629 hats.

We certainly appreciate everything you have done for Granny’s Quilts.

Our next meeting, June 19, will be a special meeting. We are going to have a sewing and tacking of quilts together. Bring your sewing machines and finished quilts.

There was discussion about having a recruitment table set up with sewing machines and samples at our next annual dinner and auction, Aug. 25, for anyone interested in sewing quilts.

The quilts are made of one piece of 45” x 56” of kidfriendly material of a Disneyor cartoon character prints.

Once a child has received a quilt, it is theirs to keep as a reminder of how much they are loved and to give them some security to hold on to as they face the hard battle of fighting a life-threatening disease. These quilts are donated to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. June 19, at Mt.
