— A rodeo clown, 24-yearold Billy Barnes, moved to Pea Ridge. Barnes liked to wash his mini-mule, Dynamite, a special part of Barnes’ act, at the Pea Ridge Car Wash.

Mrs. Eva Nickerson, who founded the Pea Ridge Cafe and operated it for more than four years prior to its sale, announced she would open another business in Pea Ridge - the Pea Ridge Gift Shop.

Alderman James Jones submitted his resignation at the Garfield City Council meeting.

A farewell party for the Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Yarbrough was held at the Methodist Church. Yarbrough accepted a student pastorate at Huntsville.

Shelly Wilkerson, daughter of Mrs. Bill Ray Jones of Pea Ridge, was selected to compete in the 1982 Miss Teen Pageant in Little Rock.

The Dahlia Club of Seligman, Mo., voted to buy paint and furnish the painters to paint Seligman City Hall.

Variances from the Pea Ridge subdivision ordinance were granted to the developer of Ridgemoor Estates at the meeting of the Pea Ridge Planning Commission.

Over 50 people gathered for the breakfast marking the first anniversary of the Lost Bridge Security Patrol at Lost Bridge Lodge.

Carolyn Rhame, a sixthgrade teacher at Pea Ridge Elementary School, attended a two-week workshop on economics at the University of Arkansas, thanks to a scholarship provided by the Bank of Pea Ridge.

Pea Ridge City Council elevated patrolman Art Croswell to the positionof police chief, replacing Chief Sam Parker.

Paul Meyer was featured with a photograph with seven 22-pound stripers, and a 3 1/2-pound black bass.

The Pea Ridge City Council agreed to review a tougher city dog ordinance at an upcoming meeting.

Roy Norvell, Pea Ridge superintendent of schools, was set to moderate his last local school board meeting in June.

The Seligman, Mo., City Council worked on city water requirements at its meeting in May. The council passed an ordinancestating any water customers who live inside the city limits and do not have their own water meter must purchase their own meter, barrel and loop.

The piano students of Audrey Pedersen of Pea Ridge presented a recital.

Those participating included Brittany Higgins, Annice Olejniczak, Alison Sauer, Noelle Littrell, Jordann Booth, Erin Luper, Spenser Harmon, Jessica Harmon, Austin Luper and Ashley Scott.

Katherine “Katie” Bowerman, a student at Pea Ridge High School, was selected to attend the 2002 session of the Junior Statesmen Summer School at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
